The CMXEVBE17155 is a corded 10-gallon wet/dry vac with a stainless steel drum and a motor Craftsman rates at 6.0 peak horsepower. Craftsman's page and the listing both give 15.68 pounds and a height of 25.13 inches.
The kit is short. Craftsman lists the vac, a general purpose filter, a 7 foot locking hose, two extension wands, a utility nozzle and a car nozzle. The manual's carton table adds a carry handle and four casters to fit, and notes that the Qwik Lock filter, filter cage and float may come pre-assembled.
There is no wet nozzle, crevice tool, dust bag or diffuser in any of the three lists. The listing names CMXZVBE39970 as a compatible dust bag, and the manual recommends the Qwik Lock filter plus a filter bag for fine dust; no bag is in the box.
Drain, caddy and storage details from the manual
The manual confirms a drain cap for emptying liquids, and gives lifting the powerhead off and tipping the drum as an alternative way to empty it. Craftsman's overview describes the drain as extra-large.
Accessory storage is a caddy at the bottom of the vac with posts for the extension wands; the utility and car nozzles sit on top of the wands. The power cord wraps around the carry handle and is held with a cord clip, and the hose wraps around the top of the powerhead once it has cooled.
The manual cautions against running the vac with the hose or accessories still stored on the powerhead. To lift the vac, it says to use the dust drum handles at the bottom of the latches, and to maneuver it with the carry handle.
The listing's electrical figures conflict with the manual
The manual's rating is 120 volts, 10 amps and 60 hertz for model CMXEVBE171550. The listing's details table gives 2.92 amps and 350 watts, figures that neither the manual nor Craftsman's page uses. None of the documents explains the difference, so confirm with Craftsman if the electrical figures matter to you.
The manual's model number carries an extra trailing zero compared with the CMXEVBE17155 used on Craftsman's page and the listing, and it does not explain the difference. This page does not guess at a reason; the manual is the one the listing supplies for this ASIN.
The listing also includes a 96.6 inch maximum suction field and an 80 dB noise field. Neither figure appears in the manual pages read or on Craftsman's page.
Hose and cord: what each source says
The listing bullet gives the hose as 2-1/2 inches by 7 feet and its components list calls it a POS-I-LOCK Dual-Flex hose. Craftsman's includes list says only a 7 foot locking hose, and the manual calls it a Tug-A-Long hose with part number 826356-5; neither maker document in the pages read states the diameter.
The manual's parts list gives extension wand CMXZVBE38606, utility nozzle CMXZVBE38630 and car nozzle CMXZVBE38620. Compare those part numbers with any Craftsman tools you already own.
Craftsman's structured data gives a cord length of 184.5 inches, a little over 15 feet, and the listing says 15 feet. The manual says any extension cord must be outdoor-rated and in good condition, and its electrical section has the full requirements.
Filter use, fine dust and blowing
This manual describes the Qwik Lock paper filter as suitable for dry pickup or small amounts of liquid, and separates small from large amounts of liquid in its liquid pickup section. It says a dry filter is needed for dry pickup, so the filter must be dried after liquid use.
The manual also covers the float used during liquid pickup. The replacement Qwik Lock cartridge in the parts list is CMXZVBE38754, and the listing names nine compatible Craftsman filters. For fine dust, the manual recommends the Qwik Lock filter plus a filter bag.
The manual calls the blowing feature Full Blowing: the larger end of the hose goes into the blowing port and a wand may be added. It carries eye protection and bystander warnings for blowing. The vac is described as intended for household use and should be stored indoors.
Warranty terms
Craftsman's page, the listing and the manual agree on a three-year limited warranty. The manual's terms, from Emerson Tool Company, cover the original consumer owner from the date of purchase and end if the vac is transferred to someone else.
Normal wear, power cords, hoses, filters and other accessories are excluded, as is motor damage or burnout from failure to clear a blockage and overuse beyond intended capacity. Use outside the manual's written instructions is also excluded, so read the operating section before the first job.
The manual gives 1-888-331-4569 for service. Repair, replacement or refund is at the company's sole discretion after a physical inspection, and the manual's warranty text includes a binding arbitration clause.
