A 10-gallon household vac with a short kit
The 5761011 is Shop-Vac's 10-gallon, 4.5 peak horsepower wet/dry vac, identified in its manual as catalog 5761011, model SH14-C450, and marked for household use. Shop-Vac pitches it for wet or dry messes in the home, garage, workshop or vehicle, with a rear blower port and a tank drain.
Shop-Vac's accessory list is short: a 7 foot by 1.5 inch diameter Lock-on hose, two 1.5 inch extension wands and a 12 inch wet/dry floor nozzle. For filtration it lists a cartridge filter, a foam sleeve and a dry collection filter bag. There is no crevice tool in the maker's list.
The manual's carton list adds a filter retainer, four caster feet with four casters and four screws, two hose holders and a tool holder. It names safety glasses and a flathead screwdriver as the tools you need for assembly.
The cord is 12 feet
Shop-Vac's feature list gives a 12 foot cord, and the listing title agrees. The listing's bullets also describe on-board cord and accessory storage, and the manual says the cord wraps on the rear of the tank cover.
The manual says the vac is double insulated with a polarized plug, and that any extension cord should be a two-wire outdoor cord with two-prong plugs, sized from the manual's wire gauge table according to the vac's amperage and the cord length. It also says to keep the cord connection out of liquid.
Shop-Vac's performance tab rates the vac at 120 volts, 60 hertz and 9.9 amps. The manual tells you to check the vac's nameplate for the ampere rating when choosing an extension cord from its table.
Airflow: 95 CFM from Shop-Vac, 90 in the listing
Shop-Vac's performance tab lists maximum airflow of 95 CFM, sealed pressure of 64 inches and 195 peak air watts, tested with a 1.5 inch diameter Shop-Vac hose. The Amazon listing's bullets and details table give 90 CFM instead, and neither source explains the difference.
Shop-Vac's own definitions say airflow depends on the type, size and length of hose, the tool and the filter, and that a dirty filter reduces suction and airflow. Peak horsepower, it says, is a laboratory figure that the motor does not reach in actual use.
The listing's 18.5 pound weight, 19.75 inch wand length and its dimensions of 15.46 by 15.46 by 24.2 inches are not on Shop-Vac's product page.
Cartridge, foam sleeve or bag
The manual says a clean cartridge filter may be used for small quantities of liquid, and recommends the foam sleeve for large quantities. Before wet pickup it asks you to remove all dry-use-only filters, including the filter bag.
The disposable filter bag is used with the cartridge, is for dry pickup only and is not required for normal dry pickup. For fine dust or powders such as plaster, drywall dust, cold ashes or concrete dust, the manual says to use a high efficiency drywall filter bag, which it notes is not standard with all models.
A rinsed cartridge takes about 24 hours to dry, and the manual says to check it for tears or holes before refitting. It links overheating to a clogged filter, and its wet pickup section covers misting.
Emptying, the float and the blower port cover
Liquid drains through a drain cap, and the manual's emptying section gives the order of steps. For drains above floor level the manual says to lift the vac by its side carry handles. The drain is on both Shop-Vac's feature list and the listing.
The automatic shut-off is a float. The manual says the motor note rises when it operates, and that failing to switch off will cause extensive motor damage. If the vac tips over and loses suction, the manual says to stand it upright.
For blowing, the manual says the hose end with the locking nut goes into the blower port, and warns against over-tightening it. It also says to remove the blower port cover when vacuuming, and it carries an eye protection warning for blower use.
Storage, care and the lifetime warranty
After wet work the manual asks you to clean and dry the tank and the underside of the lid. The cord wraps on the rear of the tank cover and the accessories go in the tool holder. The motor has lifetime lubricated bearings, and the vac should be stored indoors.
Shop-Vac's product page and the manual call the coverage a limited lifetime warranty. Shop-Vac's warranty page, for purchases from December 1, 2021, describes a full lifetime home use warranty for the original purchaser only, not transferable, with proof of purchase date required.
The warranty page excludes accessories and filters, commercial use, tampering, defects caused by non-genuine filters or accessories, misuse and normal wear, and products bought or used outside the United States or Canada. Shop-Vac's remedy is to replace defective parts or the whole vac at its discretion.
